OUR SCHOLARS

It takes many pools of support to finance a college education and The Greater East St. Louis Community Fund scholarship program is proud it can help support many residents of East St. Louis and Brooklyn with that cost.  Our Scholars attend colleges and universities all across the United States. All attend accredited colleges and universities.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for our scholarship program you

  • Must be a U S Citizen

  • Resident of East St. Louis, Illinois or Brooklyn, Illinois

  • Graduating High School Senior

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75

  • Must submit a completed application, with all documents, by the deadline on the myscholarshipcentral.org portal

To start your application for our scholarship program you must enroll in Scholarship Central.  Here is how to apply:

  • Create a profile

TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Merit Scholarship Program – for any East St. Louis or Brooklyn graduating high school senior with a GPA of at least 2.75, who plans to attend an accredited college or university

William D. Stiehl Scholarship – for any East St. Louis or Brooklyn graduate student enrolled in education, city planning or community development who plans to work in communities such as East St. Louis upon graduation or for any East St. Louis or Brooklyn student enrolled in law school.

Reaching for Dreams Scholarship – This scholarship is for an East St. Louis or Brooklyn graduating high school student with a GPA of no less than 2.5 and whose application shows a demonstration of success in college. Limited number awarded each year.

We stay with our Scholars through the longer-term – Our scholarships are renewable each year and even through graduate, law or medical school

Our scholars attend colleges and universities across the country and in 2020 ninety-percent of our first-year scholars attended an HBCU institution

90% of our Board of Directors give back to the Scholarship Program (this will change to 100%)
